Staining Bacteria...I can't seem to find the answers anywhere..not even online or on the book...please help =(
Why aren't the magnifications of both ocular lenses of a binocular microscope used to calculate total magnification? What is the total magnification for each lens setting on a microoscope with 15x oculars and 4x, 10x, 45x and 97x objectives lens? What is the consequence of leaving a stain on the bacterial smear too long (overstaining)? What is the consequence of not leaving the stain on the smear ong enough (understaining)? Thanks :3
You should be able to find this in the book!!!
Q1: binocular is for looking with two eyes, if you look with just one, total magnification does not change. Q2: total mag = ocular mag x objective mag. Q3 and 4: Which stain are you talking about???
Leaving a stain on too long generally stains everything; leaving little contrast.
Leaving a stain on not long enough doesn't stain enough; leaving little contrast. Greg
