What is the big deal with bleeding your fingers when playing a new song? I've never heard of such a thing before.

This thing might not be a big deal of course, probably there. But here, it's a common thing for us to ask if someone had his fingers bleed before eventually learning how to play a guitar. And they are so proud to show off their finger tips with callus or rougher texture because it means that they have mastered it at last.

Mcar is from the Philippines, but the saying is not country specific. I have heard play til your fingers bleed, many times. It may not be literal, but i does make a point.
