Hi,
During the experiment of extraction of genomic DNA from E.coli, we added 2% SDS/2N NaOH solution to a cell suspension containing lysozyme. What's the use of SDS?
thx

I understand that it denatures proteins.
but bacteria were lysed by lysozyme and lysis buffer, why need sds?
