In the cell cycle, the phases other than mitosis are G1, S, and G2 which are all known to be as interphase. G stands for growth.

the cell cycle is divided between mitosis and interphase. Mitosis is divided between G1, S and G2. The "G" does not stand for growth, it stands for Gap(the two gaps between interphase, DNA replication and mitosis. "I have no intention of stopping anytime soon.
