kinases and cyclins are probably the biggest influences on the transition from one stage of the cycle to the next. Although to be more specific, the kinases in question would be cyclin dependent kinases (CDKs).

you're right on the first one.
On the second one i guess the answer they are expecting from you is CDKs(and their accompanying cyclins). I don't think they want you to name them, because they are different in different organisms.
