yes, people eat it (accidentally),
no mycelium, fruiting body,

well, technically spiders aren't insects. So, no it's not a spider.
I heard that people swallow some ridicuolous number like 3 a night. I haven't tested it scientifically, but I think that's crap. Maybe three a year, maybe. Probably more like three a lifetime...
Em, the point of that was that I've heard people swallow spiders in their sleep too. Has anyone ever woken up mid-swallow? Now that would be interesting to find out!
