Effect of ethanol on proteins

Hello,

I was wondering - what exactly does ethanol do to proteins? Does it denature them? I can't find anything in my text books or on the web.

Thanks very much - so, if these proteins were in a membrane, what would the effect be? Would it make them unable to transport things through to the cell, or would they somehow become detached from the membrane or something?

Beside denatures the protein, ethanol (>95%) dehydrates the protein, so making the protein get suspended.

ethanol is a vegetal hormone.
you cant see it on "persea americana's fruit (i don't know the english name of CACAHUATE).
i call it as the senescence hormone in plants :).

PD: If you cover a cacahuate with a newspaper, it will get mature more fast, that's why you don't have to put the cacahuates next to other fruits like bannanas :).
