which fruit has the most vitamin C?currently im doing an experiment research with my group for the first time... and we decided that these fruits will be our topic for the given question above:
chinese orange, lanzones, mango, banana and apple im having hesitations on what apparatus to use in conducting an experiment in determining the amount of vitamin C in the fruits of course, i heard about a great book in our library which states... the composition of those fruits.. if ever you got any websites to suggest concerning this matter.. it would really be appreciated... Everybody's fighting for a position.

There's a reagent that reacts with vitamin c I think...and the one with the most is probably kiwi fruit from what I've heard.

no.. what i mean is that among those 5 fruits... we're conducting an experiment to determine which fruit has the most vitamin C among of those 5..
umm. and what kind of apparatus should we use??? i dont know where and how to start on making the hypothesis.. any help would be needed. or even plain ideas or opinions would be accepted Everybody's fighting for a position.

If you google for 'vitamin c determination' you'll get some ideas. The classroom-style way to do this is by iodometric titration. You'll need the iodine/iodide reagent, a volumetric buret, an indicator dye (which could be as simple as a starch solution), and some solid ascorbic acid for standardizing your titration reagent.
Ascorbate is water-soluble. You can probably just mash up a weighed amount of fruit pulp with a given volume of water and then either filter or spin down any solids and titrate a standard volume of extract with your standardized iodometric reagent. I'm not sure how you can easily control for the different mositure content of the various fruits.
thanks! i'll try it. currently, we're doing the report... how should i start on the hypothesis??? for you, which fruit among those five has the most vitamin c??? for the hypothesis.

i did what you said.. i tried to search in google, the determination of vitamin C, and as expected... a lot of related articles popped up.. it's kindda long.. and i dont want to copy and paste then print it... im planning to make it simpler in my own words.. or our teacher will get mad.. hehhe Everybody's fighting for a position.

You might need to consider the mechanism by which the experiment(titration) works. List the stuff you need and how they integrate into the experiment. Explain what your expected results will show(what are you measuring).
