Which parent usually contributes X-linked characteristic to male offspring and which to female offsprings?

For the male offspring, all X-linked characteristics come from the mother.

For the female offspring, that duty is evenly shared between both parents.

The male gamete determines sex of the offspring. Male gametes either donate an X chromosome, making the offspring female or a Y chromosome, making the offspring male.

if X comes from female and male gender - offspring is female-XX, then is during embryo development random inactivation one of X chromosome and the result is one X and Barr's body in cells
