Please help me
What are the chemical reactions and the equations that happen in making a cup of tea (for black tea, green tea)?

I think some chemicals in the leaf leak out by aid of water and heat and dissolve with water.

Tea leaves + (heat + water) = tea + ice + lemon = ice tea + cognac + little umbrella = pure pleasure + bar + nice girl = romance

I think there is an error in that formula.

The cognac would have to be written as :

Cognac/nice girl = romance

There is probably no chemical reaction whatsoever, maybe a physical reaction of some components changing from solid to aqueous state. You are simply dissolving something in hot water, nothing too special. If you are asking if whatever thats in tea thats making you feel something in your body, then it's chemical.

Although this seems to be off subject, but then again... im not to sure it matters haha but i found this interesting!

i made tea, and it was relatively dark i didnt add any lemon juice to it

but then i made tea and i was thinking perhaps if i added lemon juice it would help extract some alkaloids and such, so i did and it was very light!

so i did a test!
i took two cups half full of the dark tea,that was rather brownish. I then added lemon juice to one of them, and whoosh! after i shook it a little bit it got lighter!
significantly that i know it wasn't by dilution. it was more yellowish then brown


Tannins cause the coloring in tea as far as i know and so i have come to the conclusion that tannins are protonated (is that what you would call it?) and when they are, they change color just like a pH strip :P


I would like to try it with coffee as well because i think it might change colors as well, and this would be nice because when the tannins get lighter they wouldn't stain your teeth as much :P

haha weird.. i just got the feeling I've posted this before... but I'm sure i didn't haha or maybe?
