Fish Tank Plant fertilizer - ideas?

Postby macclesfieldman on Tue Apr 10, 2007 9:39 pm

Hi there,

There is a company offering a fertilizer for plants in a fish tank. The special thing about it, that they claim to provide a source of carbon.

Some people used it sometimes as replacement for CO2, however, it seems to not influence the pH in the water even though it shows the same growth effect and it does not affect fish either. Does anybody have a feel, waht that could be? Is it maleate or a buffered citroic acid/base?

Any hints are much appreciated!

Kind regards,
Marc

It may be the HCO3 buffer, but I don't know whether it affect the fish.
