Protein in UrineModerator: BioTeam

Protein in UrineMy husband had protein in his urine during his physical last week, but no other symptoms that would explain it (e.g. high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.). He said that he ran for 55 minutes right before giving his sample -- could that have caused it?
Which protein? To have protein in urine means that the filter of kidney (Malpighian body) is broken. They should not be there. Running cannot be accused to cause this unless there is more explanation about it. Why did he run that long? Does he run regularly? How's his daily diet? How's his life style? We need many things to discuss to see what's happening.

Thanks for the info -- Unfortunately, the report does not specify which protein. He's doing a 24-hour urine test next week -- we'll ask for more specifics on the results of that one. As far as lifestyle and diet, he runs regularly (5-6 days a week) but does not eat as healthy as he could (he still has fairly high cholesterol --185 and is on Lipator 20mg). Despite an elevated cholesterol level, he has no sign of heart disease, high blood pressure (it was 100/70) or diabetes. He does drink a lot of caffeine (diet Mountain Dew) and doesn't drink nearly enough water. That's about all I know.
I think the clue is in the last of your paragraph. We need at least 2 liters of water everyday to clean our body and remove toxic materials and wastes as urine. High cholesterol and caffeine without balanced with water is harmful. Remember that disease is caused by water and the best way to heal disease is drinking enough water. Healthy is simple, it is all about water
