I think, EVOLUTIONARY RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN INVERTIBRATES will give you a good project and help U understand them better .

Actually, I need to do a report on a specific invertabrate like a certain breed of jellyfish or something.

If U choose a hemichordate [ if allowed as invertibrate ] it will give U good IDa about characteristics of vertebrates & invertibrates and evolution ...........

I personally like the scorpion. It is one of the few animals with FOUR natural weapons...two claws, a mouth and a tail.

As i studied taxonomy, i realized that almost every animal is an invertabrate. Evolutionarily, before you get to skeletal fishes, every animal was an invertabrate. if you don't think of amphibians, reptiles, aves or mammals, than you can chose one out of every other phylum (other than chordata). you could chose every type of worm (round, segmented, tape), all mollusks, all jellies, all of arthropoda (arachnids, insects, millipedes, centipedes, crustaceans), and all of echinodermata (sea stars). only one (chordata) out of the 9 animal phyla are vertebrates.

It still would be good to compare what ever you chose to other invertabrates. That way you will get a better sence for the invertabrate you chose and you will be able to present your topic with more backround information.
