A coma is when you go into an unconscious state (deeper than sleep, where you are still considered conscious). It is basically a "stand-by" mode that your body puts you in to conserve energy. This allows your body's internal mechanisms to heal more efficiently.

Anyone know the odds of coming out of a coma perfectly fine? Theres a big risk of brain damage occuring, correct?
Anyone see that TV program in the UK recently about a guy (an american, i think) who came out of a coma after 19 years? I wanted to watch it, but missed most of it. I may be completely wrong with the number of years, but it was a long time  .

I've heard of that too. But when he came out of coma, I doubt that everyting is ok with him.

That is one scary thought. Losing so many years. Also, imagine how different the world might be in 19 years. :o

Well, that has a woman who comes back from a coma and kills lots of people, but im sure there are loads more films with people who wake up from comas. The Dead Zone (Story by Stephen King) is just one.
