I think the distingusihing characteristic that seperates science from other forms of beliefs, say astrology and alchemy, is objectivity. I agree that complete objectivity is impossible in humans. Nevertheless, one must examine subjective views and prevent them from interfering with the gathering and interpretation of data, ensuring that bias is controlled, accurate and precise data are taken and verification and/or testability applied to hypotheses, to square up to reality as far as possible.

I think the most important for scientists is curiosity to invent something new. I think it that way because curiosity motivate scientists to go to new experiment till they invent new theory..
Science development always move, they never stop....um, maybe I can think that's because of our scientists' curiosity.

First, i think that interest is come first than any characteristic. Before we do anything, we must interest in the subject. And second the curiosity. I think curiosity is important in science. And other can be sub-characteristic for the scientist.
