Im currently tryin to write an essay with the title...
"Discuss the relationships between skeletal type and habitat conditions through the examination of four named examples from different phyla!"
We have been given some rough guidance on what the essay should contain, the first section asks me to outline the basic types of skeleton(hydrostatic, endo and exo) and their characteristics! which i have done successfully(i hope)
But i have come stuck at the second part where it asks for me to- discuss the relationship between habitat and skeletal requirements: thus of aquatic, terrestrial, aerial features such as density of medium, gavity, buoyancy etc.....
i have found out the obv information like the density of sea water and air etc, how buoyancy is obtained in various creatures, but i just dont know what else i could discuss here, what other features of the habitat?!
if anyone could help that would be brilliant!
wow tht was a long first post!
You could talk about how each skeleton is more useful, ex. of hydra vs starfish even though both are aquatic.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
i was given the same assignment possibly you are taking diversity of life year2 aswell.
i have basically only gave an introduction so far based on why certain sksetal structures can interact with the habitats in which they live.
i dont really know what examples i will give, i have refered to bony fish being the most abundant form of life in the sea due to buoyancy and because they use an endoskeletal structue (which is lighter) thus more buoyant they have become sucessful marine and freshwater animals. i went on to compare the fish to crustaceans the surface dwellers who use there skeleton instead of swin scower the bottom.
i will end up leaving this assignment to the last minute as usual tho lol as usual
if you write a long list on all the pros and cons for each skeletal type you can apply these features to different environments. see why they are suited so well and also note on the variences between the skeletal types in different environments. like the difference in size of exoskeleton creatures in aquatic vs terrestrial environments.
"Oh wearisome Condition of Humanity! Borne under one law, to another bound: Vainley begot, and yet forbidden vanity, Created sicke, commanded to be sound: What meaneth nature by these diverse lawes? Passion and Reason, selfe-division cause."
