enzymes are proteins. you know that i guess. most of the enzymes become active with a helper molecule. these helper molecules are called coenzymes(vitamins,NAD,FAD etc...) and cofactors(minerals etc...). the structure that the protein formed (without the helper molecule) is called apoenzyme. It is not active. when the coenzyme or cofactor binds to the structure it is called holoenzyme. Holoenzyme is the active enzyme. Hope you get the aswer.
