Hey whywhy not !
With 50 posts it's junior member, with hundred senior member and with 500 super member.
Hmm why still wondering about our title advancement? It has no meaning for me except that we post more and more, though sometimes our posts are meaningless
I hate to be Supermember cos I can't do anything If we had a chance to have our own ava, I want to put a picture of green alien ![]()
you know that is not a bad idea

I do not really like on philosophical grounds: There is no values in the differents groups, and there is no such things as more advanced organisms... which is implied in the advancement system. Patrick

In fact what I want you to understand is that there is no such things as more advanced organisms. There are organisms that are fitter or more complex, but none is more advanced. Deinococcus radiodurans can survive radiation doses that kills everything else, by repairing its DNA in a way that no other organism can even approach. Isn't that extremely advanced?
As for the name, it is not because something has a name that suggest more advanced that it is in fact really more advanced... names are just names, no more, and given by humans are just indications of what the person naming the object thought about it. They have no intrisic properties. Patrick

with regards to wat canalon has mentioned, i tink he has misunderstood the point with regards to the discussion about how advance an organism is. Functions such as DNA repair is an amazing feat to us, just because humans do no perform it! it's sort of like a the-grass-on-the-other-pasture-is-greener syndrome! but i personally feel that the most amazing feat in this universe is the complexity of the Human Brain.. with all due respect, but when we talk about advanced organisms, we discuss multi-cellularity, nervous and endocrine regulation. Most importantly the endosymbiotic theory. the theory evidently shows that prokaryotic cells are cohabiting inside their more advanced hosts, benefitting each other in the process. I would not say canalon is totally wrong. but i would like him to see my point on my reference to how advance an organism is. Keith
Well, I see what you mean, but what you are describing I call it complexity. And I persist to say that the notion of advanced organisms is just a human view projected on nature. Bacterai are extremely advanced systems, although relatively simple they evolved into the most succesful organisms on earth. Other organisms evolved and found more ways to use other niches and are equal feat of fine tuning, but they are simply more complex, not more advanced.

haha. my apologies on the confusion. u r right. maybe it's called complexity
LOL! thanks so much canalon for discussing this with me! Keith
