HW help: RNA question

Okay, this is the question:

Natural selection: Why is persistence not sufficient for life to evolve? How does replication of RNA inherently solve this theoretical problem?

mutation, substitution, deletion, addition, duplication, variation, resource scarcity, polymorphism, extinction, relative increase in number.


I think I understand why persistence isnt sufficient enough for life is because it lacks variation therefore it would only make two different chains constantly, A-G-C-U-U and it complement U-C-G-A-A. And the special property that RNA has is that it makes mistakes, mutations. Such as substitution, is there are four rather than two different species of RNA sequences. Variation is key for evolution to occur by natural selection.




That is as far as I understand, can someone please help me to understand this?!

Erm...as far as i noe...in many codon in RNA also got terminator(rubbish) codon isnt't it? dis is far as i noe bout ur question
