Dr. Gregory Smith wants people to know it's not all in his head. According to the Gainesville, Ga., pediatrician, white fibers have been burrowing into his skin for the past two years, making him feel like he's under constant bombardment from insects or cactus needles. Shine a black light on these fibers and they'll fluoresce blue, he says, just like something you'd see in The Twilight Zone. He describes looking into the mirror one night, only to see one burrow down into his eye.

"Yes ma'am, I was a little bit distraught," recalls Smith, 58, who says he can no longer work because his mysterious ailment has also robbed him of his memory and neurological function. "I tried to grab a hold of it with tweezers and it would not come out. It was quite painful, so I threw up my hands and went to the Emergency Room with my wife."

For Smith, and some 4,000 people across the nation who claim to suffer from similar symptoms, it's the reaching out that has been problematic. The disease, called Morgellons after a reference in a 1674 medical paper, isn't officially recognized by the medical community. Some have suggested that it is a hoax, even a viral marketing campaign for a sci-fi movie. But sufferers say it's real and that there have been a growing number of cases across the nation of people with these painful fibers, skin lesions, crippling fatigue and memory loss. No one knows what causes Morgellons and no one knows how to cure it.

But Smith and his fellow sufferers are itching for answers. That's why they've pressured the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to assemble a team of scientists who will determine whether this disease is in fact for real. The 13-member team is expected to share their findings within the next two months. "We're not ready to concede there's a new disease," says CDC spokesman Dan Rutz. "But the volume of concern has stepped up because a lot of people are writing or calling their congressmen about it because they're frustrated that there's been no organized way to deal with their suffering."

But even with CDC involvement, Morgellons sufferers like Smith are still frustrated that they haven't been asked for their input. Smith, for his part, says he has offered to ship his own properly prepared Morgellons specimens to the CDC for review, but claims the agency "blew it off." And the South Carolina-based Morgellons Research Foundation volunteered to share research that an Oklahoma State University professor has done on the disease — some of it suggesting it could be contagious — but they say they were rebuffed as well. The CDC has said that it would conduct its own research first, then vet the findings with outside scientists.

In the meantime, Smith says he's just trying to keep up with the simple things in life. Unable to practice medicine for the past year because of neurological and cognitive problems he believes are a result of the disease, he says he is overwhelmed by mundane tasks like housework or hobbies like working in the yard. "From day to day, I can't predict how I'll feel," he says. "It's understandable why many people are skeptical about this illness. The symptoms are so unusual that they just don't make any sense. I even question my own sanity from time to time. But if this is all psychiatric, please give me something to make it go away."

Ok RED FLAGS flying up all over the place. If you read the attached letter that Gerberding sent to senator graham, she stated that the cdc encourages samples taken properly and stored under correct conditions. Notice that this letter is at least one and a half years old. That is how long I have had the copy for. So it is possibly considerably older. They encouraged this and stated that none had been recieved.

Close to 2 years later and after contact by god only knows how many sufferers, the cdc is finally set to launch a study. Good news to sufferers but truly a strong indication of sloppy oversight of the publics health and well being on the part of the cdc. RED FLAG I mean really, what the hell have they been doing this whole time except scaring the hell out of us all with bird flu, bird flu. 24/7 bird flu and it has not even been detected in the states yet. RED FLAG

People from all fifty states have contacted them about an illness that IS HERE NOW, FOR MORE THAN 2YEARS!!!!!! AND THEY ARE JUST NOW STARTING A STUDY??????!!!!!! BRIGHT RED FLAG

The appointment choice of one of CDC's best, most seasoned and experienced information specialists, Dan Rutz, to be the Media contact about this illness, is a big indicator of a way bigger story than the appointment of a lower level, less experienced info specialists would have sent. RED FLAG

There is something very very wrong with this picture, and because of this history i fail to be to encouraged by this study with already stated goals by Dan Rutz as "We really need to debunk this." BIG RED FLAG This study group began to appear to be nothing but lip service the minute he made this statement.

Since the announcement of this study beginning, NOT ONE of the long time infected people, to my knowledge and inquiries, have been contacted by the CDC. With who and how does this group from the cdc propose to start this study. RED FLAG

NOW we have a physician and a state university offering, infact pleading with the CDC to accept their samples and findings gathered to date. These findings and samples offered are KEY INFORMATION for any investigative effort and could only help in them being able to make headway in the investigation that much faster. WHAT THE HELL!!! THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT THESE SAMPLES AND STUDY FINDINGS!!!!!!!! HOW SERIOUSLY ARE THEY TAKING THIS STUDY???? it appears they are not and the meter on my BULLSHIT detector has maxed out. RED FLAGS ALL OVER THE PLACE.

The complete reverse of statements made by gerberding in the attached letter is as close to a conclusive indication of this study effort being nothing but lip service. Public relations on the part of the cdc and because of these items, i find little to be encouraged by from the launch of this study. My prediction is the cdc will come away without any conclusive proof of this illnesses existence. There are other things pointing in this direction. such as this from the round table discussion group http://www.roundtablegroup.com/speakers ... alkID=1380 (By the way, ask this group who their expert speaker is on morgellons. Maybe if more of us ask them they will provide and answer.)

"Morgellons Disease- An Emerging Public Health Threat? Learning Outcomes:
1) raise awareness of Morgellons Disease 2) highlight importance of research funds 3) warn about impact on the local and larger economies 4) implications for HMOs and insurers." RED FLAGS ABOUND

Anyone like to wager on an inconclusive outcome of this study? All indications are that the CDC is just going through the motions on an already decided outcome.

In the book "Cure for all Cancers" it gives step by step details on what to do to rid yourself of all parasites, flukes and worms. It is the only thing that has cured me. It is the only book that has everything a person needs to know and helps you understand what those little buggers do in our bodies. I'm sure the same cure will work for these fiber parasites. Read the book, it's amazing what you'll find. No, I'm not the author, just someone who had all the symptoms of fiber disease and now healed. I will continue to follow the protocol for the rest of my life on a yearly basis.

South,

The let us follow this through by contacting Mr Rutz and letting him know we are all watching him. PM me and we can create a letter. Instead of fearing and red flags let this be a game of chess and lets not let him get a move ahead of us.

Let us write a letter that will make him commit himself to certain procedures or have it be known that he is not accepting or andswering our question by sending the letters by FEDEX.

I am all over my Senator and our Secretary of Health and Human Services..you should be too.

This needs to be a grass roots group effort but we need a group.

Randy

PM me so we can discuss a game plan.

Morgellons and Lyme

Postby Susan Montague » Sun Jul 30, 2006 5:03 am

Hello Sabrina,

Oh My God, I know how you have suffered. I hurt for you now, just remembering back to the summer of 2004.

My partner and I developed Morgellons (our diagnosis...not the docs )
after I spent an afternoon digging sand spur plants up by the roots. The earth was very dry and kinda sandy, so I would gather up each plant at the base, then dig down around it, breaking off the "tenacles" of the root system, until I got to the bottom...then I would pull up that particular plant...
sometimes it came out easily when I pulled, and other times, I'd have to really tug at it to get it out, and with it would come fine, dry soil, that blew back in my face and hair, down my shirt, and all over my legs and feet, as I sat there, pulling these plants out one by one. It was a hot June day, and I was just trying to prevent the sand spur plants from maturing, so the spurs wouldn't be all over the yard for us and the animals to step on.

I spent a coupla hours doing this, until all ss plants were out of my tomato patch, and had piled them up in a rather large pile. My partner picked 'em up by scooping them into his arms, then walked over to the garbage can and threw them in.

The next morning, my hands were so full of "splinters" I just wanted to cry. I should have known better than to pull weeds without gloves...woe is me and how I suffer !!!
Out came the needles and tweezers, and I began methodically picking the splinters out...but by day 2, I had developed strange, erupting lesions on my arms, legs, feet, face, and a few other places the dirt had traveled .
I had the sensation of "bugs" crawling under my skin, and then, after a time of feeling crawly, I could literally feel them feeding on my flesh !!!
( Like,"Let's all go out to the "Forearm Restaurant" tonight for dinner )
Sounds crazy, but it's not, is it Sabrina?

We suffered with Morgellans for about six months, ( my partner broke out about day 3, and had them on his forearms and on one hip ) ...went to many doctors, and got stuck with the DOP diagnosis. ( I'm sorry my partner also had this, but at the same time, if he hadn't, I'm SURE no one would have believed me, because I'm Bipolar )

The docs wouldn't treat "delusions", so we tried everything from Elmer's glue to "Slick 50" ( whatever that is...some kind of deisel product used in engines ) but it seemed like smothering the little _at_#$%&^$% made them "come up for air" and we could then sneak up on 'em and pull them out with tweezers...sometimes. We became obsessed with GETTING THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and spent hours a day digging them out of us...going to bed at night with bloody hands from all the picking, yet we'd wake up, and the skin was miraculously closed...apparently healed...after all we had done the day/night before to dig them out...it was like the twilight zone!

I don't remember how long it was before we got a small (Radioshack) magnifier (60x magnification) and realized that whatever had invaded our bodies was not like anything we had ever seen or heard of in this world.
So very scary.

I had chosen to put this part of my history away, but a few days ago, I found myself telling this story to an old friend. I got morbid, and decided to go back online and look at what we had dealt with...to remind myself to be grateful, to know that horrific time was behind me...
Instead, I read that Morgellons is thought to go into times of remission, that it remains dormant, and then will strike again. Do you know if this is true?

I don't want to get all freaked out again, but over the past 4 months, I have developed some lumps under my skin that, now that I think about it, remind me very much of the hardening of the subQ tissue just prior to an eruption. Painful. Nightmare stuff. Please tell me it doesn't come back!!!

Also, that same summer, I found a tick on me that had been there long enough for it to be engorged with blood ( HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED IT?!? )
I was tested shortly thereafter and was neg for Lyme disease, but I wondered, doesn't Lyme disease take awhile to show up, or does one test positive right away, if you have it ?

Have you gotten rid of the "creatures" with antibiotics, or do you still have them ?

Once again, I know what you've been through, as only someone who has had Morgellons can understand. God Bless you. I'll put you on the prayer list !!! Your feedback will be much appreciated !

Thanks and God be with you.

Hello all

Thanks to the mods for fixing the width on the page.

Randy, way ahead of you dear, read the final letter I wrote to dan here. http://crossinglines.net/communications ... he_cdc.htm

But I am sure the more people he hears this from the better.

i believe the amount of time that goes by with Wymore and physicians like dr smith unable to find any easy answers lends all the more credibility to what tamtam has said. Although i am with most of you concerning his methods used, i do still have many other reasons to believe him correct.

such as:
the latest trend in vistors on my site has been a shift from university and curious people to ones primarily from the military, Govt, major investment firms, consultants and law firms. Prosecuters and Defense attorneys alike. Defense firms such as baker donalson http://www.bakerdonelson.com...eID=2 http://www.shearman.com...view/
and the supreme court of Virginia

This is NOT encouraging,

however lawyers such as http://www.prslaw.com...?id=9 is looking as well these are just the firms that stand out from the top of my head, there are many, many more. the sharks are circling so to speak.

If you havn't visited my site lately, it has been updated and is still evolving so have another look. http://www.crossinglines.net

South,

I am guessing that these lawyers smell a class action in the wings.

Randy

How do you know exactly who is visiting your site? I would like to get that possibility on mine..I can tell sometimes by the URL number. How do you do it?

Southcity,

I am just disgusted by the fact that the Supreme Court would be visiting your web site. What does this tell us? That there is already a behind the scenes deal in progress? And yet, here we suffer being told that we are delusional. This puts me into a rage. They are already plotting their defense tactics and yet we sit here and wonder what is going on with our bodies and our childrens futures. Tell me what you want me to send to Mr. Rutz (who is probably on this page with his task force) and I will do it.

This is unacceptable.
