cereal and milk

why are cereal and milk important part of a breakfast menu?

why is it so? answers please.. thank you

Its part of a balanced diet
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Wakes you up etc
Cereals are high in fibre and nowadays full of vitamins and iron and folic acid. The ones aimed at kids which are full of sugar are not so good.

Everyone should know the importance of milk, particularly when you are growing up. One of the best sources of calcium etc. Do a search on google :idea:

and if you live in the U.S. milk is fortified with Vitamin D. a very trace amount, mind you, but enough to complement what your body is able to convert via sunlight...

Leave it to the bureaucrats! My grandfather was a dairyman for his entire life and the amount of Vitamin D added to a batch of milk in order to be labeled Vit. D fortified is miniscule.

Skimmed or semi-skimmed milk-less fat, and wholegrain cereals- good for the heart

I could sell a pot of lard as a part of a balanced diet because you do need oil/fats in your diet. I think this labeling really means very little.

(Rant warning)
Plus, what do they mean "part of a complete breakfast"? At my house, cereal IS breakfast. The commercials always show cereal in addition to waffles,pancakes,bacon,eggs,a huge pitcher of milk....no wonder Americans are so fat.

I posted this yesterday but the site says i didn't, so...
Any milk would do, as long as you are sure there is nothing living in it... In addition to calcium milk is also very rich in phenilalanine, an essential aminoacid
The best cereal are the ones with seeds and dehydrated fruits in them... The ones with chocolate and other stuff like that taste better but are not so healthy

I saw research somewhere about the risks of drinking milk. Apparently it increases the risks of males developing Alzheimer's disease.
