genetic engineering... eat cellulose like starch

Postby zami'87. on Wed Apr 27, 2005 7:45 am

Now when we have genetic engineering and its many applications I was wondering what if a human could hydrolyze b-1,4 glycosidic bonds of cellulose. I mean we could eat cellulose like starch.Cool? Just insert the gene and voila! No hungry peoples(well and diets... ) I was just thinking...

Hmm... it might work... inserting the gene into he Lieberkuhn glands in the small intestine.. However, at least in my contry, this is illegal :x :x
