Which dog breed can live the longest? On average , does anyone know which dog breed can live the longest.
It is probably some kind of mutt, so as not to be weakened by inbreeding.
Why? Mutts are the best and I love them
Well that would be my dog, hejust turned 17 and doing good, blind in one eye part blind in the other, hard of hearing, but hes not senile like humans get!
Thats way beyond the life expectancy . Bearded Collie: (you can rescue them) http://beardie.net/bcca/rescue.htm "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these".

hey you can start your own breed and call it the R@cy Bull***** standard "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these".

I believe the longest lived dog was an Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) who lived to be 29 years 5 months.
However the Cattle Dog's average lifespan is about 12-15 years. The average lifespan of a chihuahua is 11-18 years so maybe they deserve the record as the longest lived breed.
Longest Living Dog Is a ChihuahuaThey are the smallest and the longest living dog.
Living 11 to 20 years! There is one on record that lived to be 23:) Not the best dogs for kids. I have done rescue for 10 yr and kids are the number one cause of injury with this breed. They are usually bond with one person but do ok with couples Hope this helps!! Remember RESCUE!!!!! D
