ABO system of human blood ...

Postby Arty » Sun Apr 10, 2005 12:05 pm

Hi everybody! My biology teacher gave us a question to think about.Well, I really don't have an idea.It may be not difficult but I don't understand very well the question. Please don't laugh if it may be trivial. Here you are:
If we consider the ABO system of human blood we can find 6 types of genotypes(i0i0, IAIA, IAi0, IBIB, IBi0, IAIB - 0, A, B are all superscript  ).What if a gen compound of 3 alleles have its locus in the chromosome X, how many genotypes do excist :?:
Thanks in advance.
PS:I'm sorry if I haven't been clear in my post.If possible I need the answer today cuz tomorrow I've got a biology class.

I don't quite understand what you're saying...how does your question relate to blood?

You're right! In fact it doesn't relate to it.I said exactly what my teacher said. She wanted to help us in giving the answer so she explained another similar problem.

Well I'm going to take a wild stab at this question so don't quote me if it's wrong but

suppose the alleles were A,B,C and then the different alleles would be AA,AB,AC,BB,BC,CC so 6 genotypes?

Ah, I forgot it was sex-linked, but that blood example really misled me.
