The Fiber DiseaseModerator: BioTeam
Honestly London - I think your research efforts would be far better spent on some basic science, rather than this esoteric stuff. How are you going to make connections when you don't even have basic statistics about your disease? - John
Re: Quantum Dots
Quantum dots are one nanometer across. That's about 1/10000th of the size of the smallest thing visible to the naked eye. A human hair is about 100,000 nanometers thick. - John
It's mostly science fiction, they are talking about speculative uses for nanotech which has yet to be developed, if you read carefully you'll see that the the "motes" are "currently the size of a bottle-top". - John
London, TRIZ is a Russian problem solving process. TRIZ is an acronym for "Theory of Inventive Problem Solving" in Russian. I spent some time looking at it with regard to creativity in engineering, which is actually where this article is coming from - a innovative way to maintain the properties of a polymer whilst it is undergoing a deforming process. This is primarily an engineering article. However, it does not stop you using TRIZ or any other problem solving process to get to the bottom of Morgellons. In fact CPS - Creative Problem Solving actually uses brainstorming as one of its tools, which I think we use as well. Best wishes, Helen
Let us start with Biology 101Here we go for a simple lesson which I have been taught and my good friends think we need to start here.
A Gene is expressed and then it is copied by an enzyme ( in the cells nucleus) and creates a copy called either a Messenger RNA mRNA or a MicroRNA which are indicators of diseases. This copy is read by a thing called a Ribosome. This Ribosome translates ( this could be the route of our problem is that this translation is a bad one.) this into a string of AMINO Acids which form proteins. We have a build up of C-reactvie protein. ( I know that for sure.) So something along this line is screwing up. A gene is being forced into expression by an outside or inside source, like a pesticide and then we eat the the product or we get it in our environment. So this is why DNA testing is so very important. We need someone who can figure this out on a cellular level. Remember Genes are expressed, copied and translated so that the body knows what to produce to fight a sickness. If it produces too much or if it produces when it should not you get what we all have. The fibers could be no more than a type of protein being produced because of a faulty translation of the Ribosome. The reason I was so frustrated with Tam is he could have said this if he really understood biology. There was no need for cryptic talk, Also find someone not connected with Morgellons to get a real honest read on this video. I am told it is bogus. I really would like opinions from others that have asked scientist to look at it. This is a honest request. Cilla, let me talk to someone that agrees with this video and let me connect them to my guys. Most of MD all are PH'D's. I would love to record the conversation. This is a true and honest request. Re: Headway
Brilliant
Melanin, ah but that couldn't be.
http://www.drproctor.com/os/amorphous.htm There is more. Mr. Kern, have you seen Tam Tam's video? http://www.silentsuperbug.com It is extreme evidence of what is on the skin and in our bodies. It is not conclusive. You see, this is a scientific process, is it not? This is done over and over, and over, by many of us. Observation Hypothesis repeat observations etc...... Conclusive theory, not established yet. Still repeating observations. TAke a look see at the video. Randy, This is not conclusive is it? It is ongoing, and it is evidence, observation..... but not conclusive.......is tentative........ SKytroll
I've see the video, and I agree with Dr Wymore's assesment of it:

Oh, I do believe that Tam Tam has walked the walk and/or has had someone close to him suffer
and he is trying to walk in those mocassins. Lovely cat, isn't she? I have blue eyes too. http://www.organicsemiconductors.com/ Now, tell me we cannot mix inorganic and organic. I do not think we need a hypothesis, or theory, we need criminal investigation. Skytroll
Re: Let us start with Biology 101
Randy, what I think is: firstly I actually agree with a lot of what Dr. Wymore has said in his report on it, ie there is (from memory of the report) a lot of video footage of samples under a microscope, but there is no scale on any of it or any labels. There is no hypothesis asserted and most impotantly for me, although Dr. Wymore did not stress this, there is no proof of what is being suggested. As Dr. Wymore has said, any experiments that are carried out must be repeatable by anyone in any lab in the world at any time under the same conditions. I don't think that there are any results of any experiments presented in the video. Surely hypothesis -> experiment -> result -> agreement with hypothesis -> publish and be damned. My final thought on the video, which was flagged up by Dr. Wymore is the phrase "quorum sensing", well, as Dr. Wymore said, "quorum sensing what?" I'm not suprised I can't understand it if it doesn't make sense. I respect Dr. Wymore's opinion in this matter because I think that as a senoir researcher he has given a fair feedback report on the video. He knows the score, the protocol for publishing research and he knows the science. I recognise that he is not being harsh, just a research professional and presumably, academic with teaching responsiblities. Actually only about 2.5% of MDs have a PhD.
