I did my experiment too and from reading your post im almost positive that soaking them makes them germinate faster but i think you cannot soak them for TOO long as it will just germinate as usual....i have done my experiment with soaking them at certain time like 1 hour, 6 hours , 24 hours, and 48 hours.
And my fastest germination rate is the 24 hour one so i dont know what to think anymore.. ..maybe someone out there has the answers ....!!!!!

im starting the physics experiment next ....the one on squash balls....any help anyone ....i cant find info on it anywhere on the internet

Can someone please clarify 4 me if we are meant to investigate the effect of soaking peas at a different temperture or the effect of soaking them for different lenghts of time on the germination. I woz told by my teacher it woz temperture bt u all sem 2 be doing lenght. HELP!!!!

Its lenght NOT temperature! it doesnt say anywhere in the title anything about temperature anyway. and its your own experiment and we were told to do them anyway we choose...

OK Rose*, calm down. Somepeople maybe doing different experiments, even though the experimental outlines are mostly the same, hence the grouping of all questions relating to pea germination. By the way the title doesn't say anything about length of soaking either...
We are here to share not to fight. OK?
And Mojojo should read the entire thread and apply what was done to soaking time to temperature. It is not difficult as long as one as a half-working brain.

I think that what ever result show is what happens in sciene terms all u have to do is do experiment and write down the results thats all who can say whats right or wrong if thats what happened.

it has to be the same experiment (if its biology) because it was given by the department of education and science. i know the title doesnt mention lenght of time but that kind of relates to it more for some reason, maybe because it has to do with the lenght of time the peas germinate...

What do i do??i know i have to soak marrowfat peas in water and take details but what is everyone on about with the seeds and cotton wool??what kind of seeds do i use??how long does this experiment take?

u have to soak the peas for a set ammount of time....eg 6hours,12hours etc...its somethin to do with the hard skin on the outside because they wont germinate if its ther...the only way to get rid of the skin is by soaking them...but i read somewere that if you soak under 24 or over 48 hours the experiment wont work.....just a tip cuz i only started mine today....they wer due a month ago oops lol
well at least that wat i jst did...so i hope its right!!!!!!!!!

ps does any1 know any websites that u can get info on this bcuz we need refrences for r writeup but r teacher is stupid and told us watto do and then after told us we need info refernces.....i need help for the physics squash ball thingy

i think the deadline for the 2 investigations and the experiments is the 28th of april or smth , well at least its the first week after the eastern hollidays , so you still have some time

heya i have the same question as everyone else. my science teacher is woefully incompetent and refuses to answer any questions.

i had no real trouble doing the esperiment but my class couldnt get into the lab often enough to find out when they germinated so by the time we got into the lab they were all germinated apart from the peas that hadnt been soaked. mine were soaked for 12hrs 1hr half-an-hour and 0hrs.
what results did other people get for similiar times plz
