Reduced coelom? Leeches (Hirudinea) are in the group Coelomata.
But if you mean that coelom of leeches are the empty places in the mesoderm, that is because the places between the intestine and muscle is full of mesoderm. It matters not how strait the gate

i've a doubt... is there an insect which was used in the ancient times by doctors to suck all the dirty blood in the body???

I've never heard of an insect that doctors used to do that, but leeches were a very common "cure" used by doctors in the past. The prevailing attitude was that illness was caused by "bad" blood, and that by removing that blood the diseases could be cured. Two common treatments that were used to that effect were bloodletting (just cutting a person and letting them bleed for a while), and placing leeches on the patient. However, neither of these treatments were terribly effective, since siphoning blood out of the body won't cure much...
were they also use to put stitches on a wound. like the insect could mend th skin or someting like that?????????

Hi,
Leeches are parastic organisms which feed on blood of vertebrates. They suck the blood from the vertebrates. This property of leeches (Sucking of blood) is being utilized for treatments. It is mainly to see that blood does not clot and continuously follows through the particular part of the body. Eg: After reattachment of particular part of body(Say fingers) which was accidently cut, Leeches are allowed to suck the blood from the attached part(finger) to keep the blood circulation continuous. I hope this answers your question.

I donot think so.There mouth parts are only meant for biting, sucking, etc not for stitching. And leeches producie an anti coagulating substance called hirudin such anti coaculating substances are also produced by vampire bats. "Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution"
