Spider bathroom talk!

Postby lilskip on Thu Mar 16, 2006 7:47 am

How exactly do spiders and other terrestrial arthropods get rid of waste in their bodies?
I'm just really curious for some reason!
Thanks anyone!

Well I am no expert on such things and I am scared to death of spiders. But I would venture to say they excrete waste both soild and liquid in the usual way, through an anus, however some species may do otherwise. I am not really up to matters on the "pottie."

It really depends on the atropod.
Insects have Malpighi tubes, that open into the intestine, and elimita uric acid cristals
Crustacians have a green gland, that produces kind of a very dilluted urine, near their antenas

Arachnids have malpighiu tubes, just like insects...
