modified nucleotidesgreetings:
i know that ATP is a modified nucleotide that plays an important role in energy metabolism, but are there any more that are crucial? Thanks --Jeff
Yes. GTP for instance.
ATP = Adenosine Triphosphate. Adenine (purine base) can turn into adenonsine (a nucleoside) which then can turn into ATP (a nucleotide) ATP, CTP, GTP etc Hope this tidbit helps. Forgive him, for he believes that the customs of his tribe are the laws of nature!
