Yeast fermentative characteristicsGreetings,
I am Nithin doing final year Biotechnology and Genetic engineering. I am currently diong a project on fermentation. Can anyone please tell me how to improve yeast fermentative characteristics genetically?? Yeast acts on Mollases to produce ethanol and Carbod-di-oxide. I want to increase the production of ethanol.
For the first step, microarrays, when available, are a good way to go. Otherwise a lot tedious analysis of expression level using things like RT-PCR and substractive hybridization for example.
Second step, clone it in a vector with a controled promoter is probably the simple answer. But if you want to do it in physiological conditions, I have no idea. Patrick
