Question about fish spawningHello everybody,
I'd like to know if anyone has an idea about the length of time between hatching and spawning for benthic fish vs a pelagic fish? Thanks a lot!
You might have already checked out this site, but here:

This might not have the answer either, but is cool and related:

i have this project to do.... i have to expose Xenotoca eiseni to UV light but i dont know for how long should i expose the pregnanr fish what distance should the fish be and the concentration of UV. the other half of the experiment is to expose the pregnant fish to lithium choloride but dont if that will kill the pregnant fish please  help me i will be very thankfull black tulip from bethlehem university
This really only makes sense the other way around - there's no generality to what you've asked as you've asked it. There's really not much the other way around, either, but there is a concept embedded in it.
But if it's the gap between spawning and hatching, this tends to be longer in pelagic fish because they don't tend to run into each other where eggs can be laid (unless they have periodic mating runs into the shallows), so the gap of time is longer, with "find a place to lay eggs" inserted into the process.
