Polymerase chain reaction

Postby intrigued on Sun Feb 26, 2006 11:03 pm

Why can oligonucleotides be a limiting component of the PCR(polymerase chain reaction) reaction. Considering this what other component of the PCR reaction could also be considered rate limiting?

imagine when you don't have enough dNTPs ;) other limiting components can be: Taq-polymerase/cofactor for polymerase / primers (forming dimers and thus inactivation)
