@James If cells are doing same job in ame way then the genes for that specefic job would vbe identical [eg. genes for cell div. , respiration etc. in most cases .] But, to have the two genomes Identical , every corrosponding genes should be identical and equal in number, if this is so , you will never call them two organisms of diff. species. They are clones, In a colony of bacteria produced from a single parent, the genomes of bacts are diff. because of amitosis and the mechanisms for genetic recombination. So, it is still a colony. hrushikesh
