What do you want... no, no I mean: where will we start this discussion?

well lets start out from the reef and how will we managing? how are we working out on it?what can we do to manage our coral reefs being rich of their environmental productivity? what we do if it s happen to the corals bleeching? so let work out on these and later on i'll put more...

First of all, we have to warn fishermen who like to use dynamite for catching fish. Also people who like to take out coral for trading. I ever saw a poor, very pity, coral reefs where there is almost no life there, no fishes, no molluscs, and other vertebrates, no algae, no seagrass, only pile of fragile calcs... Those coral reefs are dying

Pollution – A Threat to the Coral Reefs

9. a) The International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) drafted a strategic plan in the month of January in 2001 under the pseudonym of the International Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN). The plan is composed of three major components: Management Action, Communication, and Assessment and Information Dissemination. Each component presents a multitude of arguments for the improvement of international coral reefs. The following is a condensed version of one of fifteen initiatives under Component 1, called the Development of a Global Network of Demonstration Sites.

Component 1: Management Action
Development of a Global Network of Demonstration Sites

Implement the following:
• Integrated Coastal Management – conservation of biological diversity
• Marine Protected Areas

***Both improve the management of coral reefs and associated ecosystems.

Furthermore, ICRAN proposes to do the following:
• Review effectiveness of existing management practices of MPAs and ICM sites encompassing coral reefs currently in each region (where the ICRI are present), resulting in production of case studies and recommendations for best practices
• Work with existing and newly selected ICM/MPA sites to improve their capacity in demonstrating the principles of effective coral reef management
• Provide training at the demonstration sites with regionally adapted training material and case studies developed in the Start-up Phase, primarily directed at MPA managers, NGOs, project and government staff, to illustrate the processes of successful management
• Support distribution of information to villages, fishers, policy makers and other stakeholders from surrounding areas to learn from the experiences gained at the demonstration sites within and outside of each Regional Seas Programme
• Promote pilot programmes in alternative livelihoods in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to reduce harvest pressure on coral reefs, improve equity in support of participatory management and improve living conditions for local communities, taking into special account the role of women and lessons learned from previous programmes via:
o small grant programmes for communities dependent on coral reefs
o micro-credit programmes, small business development, and marketing programmes.

b) These strategies are proving to be extremely effective. In the past, ICM/MPA sites have been developed on an ad hoc or opportunistic basis. Consequently, not all areas of concern are being addressed. Furthermore, the funds to educate the villagers or officials near the site have been inadequate. Therefore, an effective outreach program, demonstrating good practices, was unimaginable. If these people were more informed about coral reef destruction, they would be able to demonstrate these sound practices. ICRAN is offering the unique chance to establish a network of demonstration sites for the villagers so that they may replicate these practices within and between regions, in order to encourage local communities to share the knowledge and experience amongst themselves. So far, the ICRI has developed networks in the Caribbean, Eastern Africa, East Asia, and South Pacific.

Sad but true. Primitive and noneducated fishermen still do with dynamite. I already suggested my opinion. I want to see yours?
