Whats the difference between land and water plants? How are they built differently?

well what is essential to plants but harder for water plants to obtain? there's a couple of things, but here's a hint: air.

Aquatic plants are sort of built in a different way, for example alot of aquatic plants absorb the nutrients found in water from their entire body not just the stems ex: floating plants (Pistia stratoides , Eichornia crassipes ) , and gas diffusion occurs similarly to land plants as aquatic plants can use a form of dissolved carbon dioxide to supply its self with "Carbon" and it can also derive the carbon d from simple organic compounds (such as photosynthetic intermediates). and oxygen for respiration from dissolved O2 gas as well.
But submersable aquatic plants seem to die very quickly when trimmed and removed from the water , possibly they dont have a fully water proof film on the leaves to prevent evaporation like in land plants.
