Taxonomy is the practise of deciding what different groups organisms go in. They are organized on seven levels.

Kingdom
Phylum
Class
Order
Familiy
Genus
Species

Humans are clasified on this system as: Anamalia Chordata Mamallia Primata Hominidae Homo sapien

All or almost all of these terms are a description of one quality of a member of this group. For example, all members of Phylum Chordata have a spinal chord.
