Electron ShellCould I get a basic definition of what an electron shell is.
Basically its the space around the nucleus where the electron is. Each shell has a capacity, the first being 2 and the second and third being 8. If this is new to you then thats the basics.
The shells all 'want' to be full and fill up from the inside outwards. During bonding only the electrons in the outermost shell are involved. Here is a nice picture
