If you ask clinicians or medical doctors, OF COURSE they will not say "never". As you may know almost all prescription drugs contain addictive substances (and even anesthetics is addictive substances). If you ask pharmacian or biologist, they will explain you and give you 'something behind the drug' ![]()
Dr, have you ever found yourself crying in your bed and couldn't move because of cramps. Well, I did. Several times. Nothing helped. Keeping warm, exercise... nothing. So, I prefer drugs.
@Andrew: Yes, I've read it Andrew. This may be a girl-thread (as you said It matters not how strait the gate

I usually take acetominophen for cramps. I take 2 pills of it whenever I feel the slightest hint of cramps, especially if I have to go to school that day. It's no use trying to hope that the pain will jusy 'go away' because it doesn't and I cant get any work done if I am in pain. I am not addicted to it either. I always take just 2 pills.
Yup, paracetamol and acetaminophen are best friends
Poison: Yup. I used to be that way every months in my early twenties. I used to get faint because of it. My doctor gave me a presecription drug contains paracetamol. I was addicted to it. Then a friend, pharmacian, telling me all about paracetamol. She told me to stop using that and suggested me to try a therapy for balancing my hormonal condition. The cramp is due to the unbalanced estrogen-progesteron then further on HPG axis. Therapy is simple, it was all about menu and sport and optimistic and patience. The hard thing is to remove the effect of paracetamol. I am sorry if the "never" word is inappropriate. My experience tells me to stop using that, and I told her to stop using it too because I don't want her to be like me in the past ![]()
Can you tell more about the therapy? I tried a couple of methods and they didn't work. I would like to learn more about it. If possible.

Period helpFirst I always try chocolate
I've used acetaminophen and also ibuprofen they do work at times. Excerising like walking and swiming I find helpful. Hot water bottle or heating pad over the abdomen, or a hot as you can stand it bath. Some people use oral bith control to lessen cramps. I was on the needle for two years and never had a period that whole time, no period no pain. Sex or actually an orgasm is probably the most effective pain reliever for menstrual cramps. I believe I learnt in sexual behaviour that cramps are cause by the uterus pushing out the sheded linning, and that extreme pain from cramps is caused by blood clots. And where the pain orginanates depends on the postion of cervix, pointing back means back pain, etc.
Chocolate is good but does not do anything for the pain.
Exercise during periods? I can not get up in those times, what exercise? Hot bath is helpful but only makes you relaxed, doesn't stop the pain. I didn't used birth control pills, I don't know about it. It may be helpful. Well, I think you are right about the last part, but if you find the energy to get up. PS: I think it is time to move this topic to Human bio. Fits there better. It matters not how strait the gate

Yeah, life style is one of the therapy. Don't think to exercise during your period, do it out of your period and regularly everyday, it will help you to prevent cramps during your period. And don't do sex during your period, you will lose a lot of energy and also dirty
About birth control pills, it contains progestogen or oestradiol agent to give a feedback to internal estrogen. The cramps is due to the high level oestrogen (and low level of progesteron) to contract the uterus. By consuming birth control pills, means that there is exogenous progesteron or estrogen to trigger the feedback mechanism. As I told you precviously, the unbalanced hormonal condition makes the cramps during periods. ![]()
I thought a only a little pain was acceptable in period. I was joking and don't get cramps at all but my friend does and her doctor told her it was because she wasn't eating probably nor getting enough exercise. He refused pills.
By the by surly sex during your period is yes messy but calming too! Especially when us girls can get soo highy strung. So how come we have periods and other animals don't. I was once told it is due to evolution of our reproductive system. Giving birth during any season does not matter to us but to a gazelle for example can be life threaten for the offspring due to drought, lack of food etc? Any truth in it?
periodsSex doesn’t have to be messy during your period, do it in the shower, or place a towel underneath. And it doesn’t have to be sex an orgasm is what I find helpful, so masturbate.
Sex can wait, Masturbate.
