Receptors in joints.What kind of receptors give feedback on the position of joints? Are they similar to the stretch receptors in muscles?
Joints contain 3 kinds of receptors: Pacini corpuscles, Ruffini corpuscles and free nerve endings. The first 2 transmit position and physical state of the joint, free nerve endings transmit pain. Although some books will tell you that free nerve endings also transmit the position:(
