Plasmodium lifecyclejust wondering if you could tell me the difference between microgametocyte and a macrogametocyte.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Gametocyte is a gamete-producing cell. Macrogametocyte produces macrogamete or eggs, while microgametocyte produces flagellated microgamete or sperms. Fertilization generates zygote, which develops into worm-like called ookinete.
In Biology term, prefix macro- refers to female while prefix micro- refers to male ![]()
