poison ........ when it could be deadly ?????I know that if a snake bite u or somthing u will be dead - if u didnt get treatment - but i know that if u drank the poison nothing will happen 2 u
- because of the HCL acid in the stomach - the qustion is : how did the people died from poisons ??????
tell me something
i noticed in this as well as ur other thread,u seem to be interested in death... that thread was abt creating a deadly disease(i think) and this abt poison. honestly, u will make a very good doc. no offence, just kiddin' VeenaandNivyah
Neurotoxins in snake venom go through the blood stream and work specifically on Neurons. A common effect of this is paralysis, death would follow with out treatment.
Well, it depends on the venum. Yes you are right if you drink it nothing will happen since venum consists mostly of proteins which are turned my digestion into aminoacids(my enzymes, not HCL. HCL only denaturates). Let's look at a few examples:
- neurotoxins: they act at a nervous level, affecting the functioning of neurons and sinapses. The most important are cobra toxin -style venums, that inhibit the acetilcholine nicotinic receptor-victim dies of respiratory shock. and there is the other type, that inhibits glutamic acid synapses-don't remember the snake - and then there's the raddler type venum that enter your blood stream and causes red blood cells to burst-don't know the cellular mechanism "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Its like if you put some rice in your blood and see for mono-sachharides...
So, as MrMystery explained some deaths to you, u should be satiesfied now... or r u still eager to... hey, vinand from which state u r??? i'm here in maharastra... SHREI
Well, you could die if the poison is not digestion nor denaturated. Or it could be absorbed before the digestive system had a chance to break it down. It all depends on the poison and it's chemical nature

There are some types of toxin or venom. Two important kind of venoms are neurotoxin (it is already mentioned above) and haemotoxin which will destroy the blood corpuscle and lyses them. When you have most of your blood lysed, you will get lack of oxygen and everything goes into ruin and you'll gonna die soon.
I was into investigation of cobra venom against intact blood. I put a blood sample into a microscope slide and added a little bit cobra venom. Only in a few second the venom, looks like a thin glass with sharp edge, lyse RBC and WBC... that's amazing view! ![]()
Really, alberts said cobra toxin acts as a specific inhibitor for acetilcholine receptor. Maybe it has multiple effects?!

If you meant How ppl die from non-animal poisons answer is that those poisons (but not all) are not proteins based so they are not denaturased by stomach enzymes. Arsen, cianid and many poisons from plants and fungi pass our digestiv system unharmed and go strait into blood stream.

Yeah, I knew cobra venom is neurotoxin but my investigation showed so. I myself was very surprised to see it ![]()
Rasputin supposedly was poisoned and lived but not because of the acid but the lack of it. Look it up in wikipedia.
