Biology is a strange thing adidasty.
If you look at the deffinition of eukaryotic cells you will get either that they have a nucleus or that they have membrane bound organelles. Red blood cells in mamals have neither of these. Conclusion: They are not eukaryotic cells "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
All eukaryotic cells have a nucleus... Red Blood cells are eukaryotic...

@thank.darwin
from wikipedia.org Erythrocytes in mammals are anucleate when mature, meaning that they lose their cell nucleus and thus their DNA. (The erythrocytes of all other vertebrates have nuclei.) I didn't know that either. Living one day at a time;

Not quite true...have you ever done the lab where you stain onion skin cells? I know it's quite common in the States at least... The idea is to stain onion skin cells with iodine. Then, we spend about 15 minutes trying to find a cell that actually does have a nucleus. I've always asked my professors why they don't have nuclei, but they didn't know...maybe Jelanen does. Kyle
What's wrong mithrill, didn't believe me when i said that red blood cells have a nucleus of other things except mamals?
By the way, i was joking about red blood cells not being eukaryotic cells @Biostudent I'll ask my teacher about that. It's strange "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
I had the same problem. It matters not how strait the gate

I have done that lab... My bio teacher told me the iodine wouldn't be able to stain the nucleus... Onion cells do have a nucleus... I might be wrong on this one? No amount of experimentation can ever prove me right; a single experiment can prove me wrong.

All vegetal cells have a nucleus? Is there any exception to this? I don't believe so...
And don't give me the phloem cells because in some books they have a nucleus and in others they don't so.. "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
An onion doesn't have only one nucleus. they are in its cells.... is this the answer what you're looking for?
