water life........i was just wondering if hydrogen and oxygen R both present in the air, y dont we live in a world flooded with water?

A very good question. The answer is: because we don't have an incorporated electrolysis machine.
The human respiratory system(or any respiratory system for that matter) can not use water as oxygen source because we can not break down water into it's elements and then use oxygen. Even fish, who live in water can only use the oxygen that is disolved into the water. Understand? "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
Re: water life........
it does present as Oxygen (commonly, air) and H2O (commonly, water). the water vapor level in the air is called Hygrosity level (I hope I wrote it right). Then, if the Hygrosity level is raised up till 100%, why we don't get "sink" in the air (this question also appear in the "Joke question but analyze it" topic)? Remember that the 100% given here is not an absolute level of hygrosity, it's only a relative level.... Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.
Because the hydrogen and oxygen don't combine to form water until a certain amount of activation energy is reached?
Because plants constantly break down water? Living one day at a time;

I and dave understood the question very differently. I thought you meant why can't we use water in respiration "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
Re: water life........
The true chemistry answer would be because Hydrogen and Oxygen are both diatomic gases. They are always in pairs with covalent bonds, which is a relatively strong bond. Extreme amount of energy would have to be applied to break the bonds, such energy level is hardly found in nature.

Exactly what mithril was saying, just a little more detailed Patrick

No but sometimes language difficulties offset comprehension. Because being Romamnian means he is not a native english speaker. And short/weird spelling do increase problems in understanding.... Patrick

hey your right! sorry about my short weird spellings!!
i promise i will try to change them! im just used to writing that way! sorry! you see no short weird spellings in this post! d nyt is darkest just before the dawn
