Your suggestion is good and I have tried that in the past with limited sucess. Staining however is another thing. The processes may be simple to those who have the where with all to do it but resources and finances are tight these days. Of course my main subjects of interest are amebae, particularly the pathogens Naegleria and Acanthamoeba which are the causative agents of PAM and GAE. Hopefully I will move into phase contrast or even VAREL (Variable Relief Contrasting) as soon as Zeiss makes it available for the Axiostar. Staining with light is much cheaper and not as messy. At present VAREL is offered on the Axioskop 40 only.
