No, you just need a computer with internet access, and the owner's permission to use it of course.

What does joining entail exactly?

You simply install a screensaver type software and it does calculations when you're not using the computer. It then sends the calculation results back to the server.

I like programing and i created a small application you can use to keep notes http://www.sunnynotes.com. It is FREE for this period and I use it to keep my notes.

I would interested if anyone else around here has some programming skils we can use for the http://folding.stanford.edu/ project.

i read over the site, but i am not sure that I understand how this works. What kind of information is generated from us having the screensaver and how is it used?

It's the same process as the global warming one and the more famous SETI@home. Basically, there are many configurations of protein foldings and to calculate all the orientations, they need our computers. Each computer while running the screensaver is calculating the different orientations. The finished calcluations are sent back to the main server.
