Mouth UlcersFirstly, sorry if this is the wrong forum to put this in, I figured that it fitted best in this one but knowing me I'm wrong
I'd just like to know what causes mouth ulcers...I've been told stress and lack of sleep etc. so I just wondered if this was correct and also what exactly are they? I mean I know they're annoying things that hurt like hell but what are they?! Thanks If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?
Most mouth ulcers that I have come in contact with are caused by a viral infection. Usually these kinds of ulcers are referred to as "Kankar sores." A little vinegar swished around in the mouth will usually "kill" the viruses in a way that is not painful to the person.

k well i would think that a mouth ulcer would be formed the same way any ulcer is, acid in the mouth (prodably stomach acid, maybe from constant vomitting) is burning sores into the skin...
ulcer in stomach is caused by bacteria. What bacteria? I don't know, but that's what this year noble price is about
Not all ulcers are caused by this. Some are caused by overproduction of stomach acid. But this overproduction is not caused by stress...it is caused by a failure of the pancrease to release bicarbonate to neutralize the acid.
The bacteria is Helicobacter pylori. And as for what you said Kyle, well the pancreas neutralization should only happen after the stomach, not in it, so I doubt this is ggod explanation. Last edited by canalon on Thu Nov 24, 2005 4:19 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Canker sores, mouth sores or Aphthous Ulcers (getting technical) is caused by, well it really isn't known. There is a strong genetic link and it maybe caused by either secondary oral trauma or periods of stress. Well that is what I learned maybe a year ago..
