Origin of lifeModerator: BioTeam Origin of lifeMy biology teacher recently showed us a video of evolution.
It suddenly showed one day when DNA existed, and replicated itself, gained a membrane and lived on. How could something so complex and alive form from chemicals. I don't understand it. I would like some help, so thanks in advance.
it's an experiment.
hm.. so. it's kinda of soul. and we can not make a soul, and even we can not imagine how is, what is look like, why is a soul. if the protein maked by that so. maybe u should try to get information about the next experiment.(about high voltages to CH3, NH3, ++)
Scientists still agree that there are holes in this theory. But they -are- working to fill those holes.
Actually it all began with the plasma membrane(liposomes).. There are numerous books on the subject.. Try reading one of them, they are interesting...

The science of evolution is something that may one day be open to the public for people to copy but for know the problem is that the people cant figure out how life started because the religions all say that thier god created man and science says taht we evolved from monkeys and it has always been a subject of great deliberation.
Re: Origin of life
I think most agree that RNA came first. Also, something "so complex and alive" is not spontaneous. And everything is formed from chemicals.
Re: Origin of life
The reasoning for this is that RNA actually provides the method for replication of RNA. The polymerases and such are made of RNA. So once you have RNA, it's possible to synthesize new RNA. Not so for DNA.
There are some parts that are not explained yet, but that is the most logical-therefore the best- theory we have.
It matters not how strait the gate

I don't know about your biology teacher or what video he's showing you, but the Theory of Evolution is completely silent on the 'Origin of Life'. The Theory of Evolution is a theory about the origin of species, not life. Hence the name of Darwin's work...'The Origin of Species'. The study of life from non-living things is 'abiogenesis'.
??? are we talking about origin of species or the origin of life. yes jbdan said about evolution. but in my mind the meaning of evolution is releated to the chemical evolution. so i think jbdan not said about the origin of species.
We evolved from apes, not monkeys
