Size of Stem Cell?

I've looked all over the interent and can not seem to find what the size in nm a stem cell is. I am specificaly looking for the size of a stromal stem cells in adult bone marrow.

me too could not find size, the cellect system (Depuy) talks about selective retention based on size but doesnot specify it...

Cord blood is loaded with our "stem cells" which are orgins of the body's immune and blood system and may be the origin of other organs and important systems in the body.

Could it be the size of a regular blood cell?

I tend to agree with Thenewguy. The stem cell is not a specialised cell, it's main purpose is to divide and create more cells. I am not sure of this as I also couldn't find the size in any of my books but this is my opinion

The stem cells that form blood and immune cells are known as hematopoietic stem cells (HSC).

A major thrust of basic HSC research since the 1960s has been identifying and characterizing these stem cells.

Because HSCs look and behave in culture like ordinary white blood cells, this has been a difficult challenge and this makes them difficult to identify by morphology (size and shape).

Even today, scientists must rely on cell surface proteins, which serve, only roughly, as markers of white blood cells.

Stromal cells can be obtained from a little sample of patient’s bone marrow.

Stem cells are basically the same size as blood cells, and in many instances the same shape.

I too am looking for the size of cord blood stem cells. Are they much smaller than the blood cells?

aah..it is totally absurd to give a specific size as 20um to all stem cells! I wonder what's the source of this info?

The stem cells that I work with (Adult bone marrow stem cells) can vary in size from 5 to 50 microns.
