similarity/difference between mitochondria & choloroplasi have a homework question that i need some help with. it is: give 1 structural & functional difference & similarity between mitochondria & choloroplast.
plz help! tnx!!
structurally, i think dna is present only in mitochondria , not in chloroplast,, also, folding of inner membrane may be other one,.. and functionally i hope u would b knowing, power house and trapping of energy..........

Both organelles have DNA (mitochondria and chloroplast), so that is a similarity. One difference is that chloroplasts are usually found in plants. The main role of chloroplasts is to produce energy (in the form of ATP and NADH) using the light energy of the sun. Yes, choroplasts make fotosinthesis. I'm sure that plants too have mitochondria, because they make glicolisis too and produce ATP. Is it true?

It is true that both mitocondria and plastids have DNA. It resembles the DNA of Archea, having both intorns and transposoms.
Mithocondria is found in almost every eukaryotec cell on erath(very very very few exceptions). None of the 2 discussed organelles is found in bacteria. Chloroplasts(which is a special kind of plastids, see interconversion of plastids) are found in most autotrophic eukaryotes. structural similarity is that they are both have to parts in chloroplast its the granum and the stoma. in mitochondrion u have the inner part where kreb is involved the the cristae. they both have two parts to handle carbon fixation.my guess.
one of the structural differences is that the cell wall in a plant is made out of fibrous protein,easy to break. our cells walls are made out of globular,other protein and phosolipids making it durable. functional similarity is that they both need a carbon compound to enter their system, they also both need hydrogen to use high power electons. stating the fact they both are used for cell respiration. functional differences are easy. chloroplast exhales oxygen while mitochondria inhales it. chloroplast creates gluclose when glycerate phosphate doubles and hydrogen is attached to a receptor. in mito- glucose is consumed. in chloroplast light is used in mito it is not.
