effect of glucose on cell membraneswhat effect does glucose have on the permeability of cell membranes?
None that i know of..

This is how glucose dhould move about in the cell
glucoseFor our experiment we have to cut up little cubes of beetroot and immerse them in 11 solutions, one of which is a mix consisting of 10% glucose and 1% formaldehyde. I guess the rest is water. This is all at room temperature of course. We then have to use a spectrophotometer to measure the absorption of each beetroot sample after 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 45 minutes. At the end of all this one of the questions we have to answer is "How does glucose affect cell permeability and why?"
For that matter the next question is how does formaldehyde affect permeability and why?
Do the experiment and find out

Hey, I am doing the same experiment, i suspect we may be in the same stream in biology, since it shows that your from adelaide.
anyway this website may prove useful to you [http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/D/Diffusion.htm] hope its useful for you
Glucose and cell permeabilityI think the effect of glucose on permeability has something to with its cotransport with sodium that creates an electrochemical gradient.
